Those clever Mode Studios lot are back. Not content with breaking down 100 Years of Swimwear and 100 Years of Men’s Swimwear as part of their 100 Years of Fashion series, they’ve returned with their latest chronological fashion-storytelling offering – 100 Years of Lingerie – and it’s still a fab history lesson in under 3 minutes!
There’s so much to say about lingerie. Wearer’s and appreciators both know it speaks many languages. Lingerie enables us, empowers us, comforts us and protects us – it can even oppress us, all from underneath the layers of varied chosen and unchosen uniform we wear during our days. And like all fashion, every era and decade has brought about some big changes in its style.
Model Arianny Celeste takes us from the “demurely natural” look in 1915 to the “rebellious vixens” of 1965 to Madonna’s Vogue-loving “sporty and sultry” style of 1995, delivering us to 2015. The year which proves to us that, in fact, there is one thing we can wear that will always be sexier than lingerie – confidence. And Danielle Orner, Germaine and Rain Dove show us.
From the century, Planetfem’s favourite has to be the 2015 ensemble. Starting with the sexy solid halter romper made from 100% silk chiffon. French seamed, this baby has elasticated edging with loop detail. It has scalloped edging detail on the shorts and a two-option hook & eye closure at the neck. The garter straps are removable and it costs an eye-watering $675 – but – it comes in three colour combos. It is a signature creation from the 2015 ready-to-wear collection of Le Sang Bleu.
