Lingerie models don’t come bigger, louder, or more inspirational than plus size model Kerosene Deluxe.
Kerosene Deluxe has appeared in untold fashion magazines and on the covers of the world’s most influential magazines. Yet she is far from conventional: plus sized and tattooed Kerosene became a spokesperson against bullying and fat-shaming, following a traumatic childhood which ultimately spurred on her successful career which has become as diverse as she, and traverses both modelling and glamour industries. Her CV includes avant-garde and alternative shoots, including Fetish and lingerie. She is also an experienced ‘tightlacer’ and corset model.
Born in Holland, Kerosene was raised in Canada but is of Dutch, Thai and Japanese descent. She writes for the magazine ‘Missy/Ink’, giving advice to its readers on body image and how to cope and succeed in a world geared towards smaller sized women. She also works as a Body Positive activist and anti-bullying spokesperson helping people to deal with childhood trauma, to push through and succeed, as she did. She has a website and speaks of her own struggle on her blog;
“I had to grow thick skin and focus on the fact that my body is mine alone and no one should have the power to make me feel inferior about it. Ironically, my body is actually the biggest it has been in my modelling career, but I’ve never felt more proud to be its owner, imperfections and all.”
She also features in a documentary about the plus size industry, ‘A Perfect 14’. You can watch the trailer below.
Kerosene plans to set the world on fire with her very own lingerie line for the bigger, plus size woman, which she is currently creating with her ‘dedicated’ husband. You can follow Kerosene’s career here at her website or keep up with her busy life, thoughts and musings on her blog, here.
